PRESS RELEASE

FEBRUARY 1, 2007.
The Ministry of Information provided media interviews with three newspapers concerning matters pertaining to the current state of border tensions between Saint Marten and its northern neigbor Nikaragua. Two newspapers asked about the current economic state of the Republic and the possible devaluation of the Kougaran. Questions about the border tensions were passed to the Minister of Defence and for the economic news to the Secretary of the Treasury.

FEBRUARY 2, 2007

The Nikaraguan government has clearly stated that it will not release the two boat crews that were "detained" at the northern river seperating both countries until all tolls as well housing expenses for the "detainees" have been fully paid. It is the official stance of this government to press upon the Nikaraguan government that the passage of the river should be free upon international laws of freedom of navigation. The Nikaraguan government has stated that our republic is taking both countries to the brink of breaking diplomatic relations. We state the contrary since we press both parties to remain calm.

FEBRUARY 2, 2007

Today a fourth newspaper requested an interview with our ministry.  The newspaper specifically requested clarification on the growing border dispute with Nikaragua.

The Ministry of Information officially licensed three new television stations in the Republic of Saint Marten along with one radio station.  These will be on the airwaves in the following week.

The Ministry of Information held its first "Town Hall Meeting" where Ms.  Viridiana representing the Reform Party, Mr. Peņa representing the Community Helpers party and Ms. Castro representing the Democratic Liberal Party.  The four newspaper editors asked relevant questions pertaining to their party platform. The official results of the membership drives is as follows:

1. Democratic Liberal Party  52 new members.
2. Reform Party 43 new members.

The following citizens registered twice in two different parties, thus, violating the membership drive:

The 3-major political parties informed this office that they have chosen their candidates for president.

1. Ms. Adriana Ivvone Castro for the D.L.P.
2. Ms. Diana Arocha for the R.P.

FEBRUARY 13, 2007

This ministry has suspicions that two particular newspapers have copied articles from foreign newspapers.  The two suspected newspapers are:

1. Graham News in their sports article, "LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT PERSON FOR THE JOB"

2. Runway News in their International article, "DEATH TOOL IN RAIN-RELATED INCIDENTS RISES TO 24"

This ministry will inform the Justice Department to initiate an investigation in order to clarify the suspicions.  By no means is this a formal accusation, however, if the suspicion were to be true then the newspaper would immediately be closed for operations.

FEBRUARY 15, 2007

IN A WELL ORCHESTRATED JOINT MILITARY OPERATION THE SAINT MARTEN ARMY, NAVY AND AIRFORCE LAUNCHED AN ATTACK TO LIBERATE THE 25 CREW MEMBERS ALONG WITH THE TWO COMMERCIAL BOATS THAT WERE INJUSTLY HIJACKED BY THE NIKARAGUAN GOVERNMENT.  ONCE THE OPERATION WAS CONDUCTED THE CREW MEMBERS WERE FLOWN INTO ALEXANDER AIRFORCE BASE OUTSIDE SAINT MARTENSVILLE.  THE MILITARY IS REPORTING NO CASUALTIES AT THIS MOMENT AS WELL AS NO LOSE OF LIFE.

FEBRUARY 16, 2007

The people of Saint Marten requested this ministry that newspaper operating license of several newspapers be withdrawn. In an attempt to mediate the situation an election was held in order seek the newspaper with least news worthiness in our community.  The results are the following:

1. Le Vision 48%
2. Runway News 30%
3. Graham and XD 11% each

A special runoff election will be held Monday as one newspaper will be withdrawn from our country.

Also this ministry exonerates the sports reporter for Graham News as it insensitively stated that he "might" be re-writing news from foreign newspapers.  This rumor was started by the Ministry of Sports.

FEBRUARY 19, 2007

The REFORM PARTY and the DEMOCRATIC LIBERAL PARTY informed this ministry that their party websites had gone online.

1. REFORM PARTY
piczo.com/reformparty

2. DEMOCRATIC LIBERAL PARTY
dlparty01.piczo.com

For some strange reason the COMMUNITY HELPER PARTY did not inform this ministry about their website even when Mr. Alex Peņa was asked to provide a website address to his presidential candidate.  This proves the CH Party is not using technology to their advantage.

March 3, 2007

This ministry wished to inform the public that Fridayīs vote was postponed due to a medical emergency that the President sustained while on a trip to the Northern District. The President began to feel ill and his pressure began to elevate.  He temporarily blacked out and was quickly rushed by helicopter back to Saint Martenville.  Doctors at Saint Martenīs Regional Hospital stated that a press conference will be held in the next few hours to inform the country on the Presidential condition.  The President did not have the opportunity to delegate his presidential powers.

MARCH 3, 2007

Doctor Felipe Ramos just stated that the President entered into cuoma roughly about 12:30 p.m.  He stated that the President received a dosage of an unusual venom poison only found in the Middle East.  An expert is being flown from the United States to assist this medical situation.  We have also been informed by our Embassy in Nikaragua that an unusual amount of Nikaraguan troops are headed to their southern border at this time.  We have attempted to communicate with Minister of Defence Mr. Max to confirm the situation.  We sent emails to the newspaper editors and as many reporters to assist us in our communications as several power outages have misteriously occurred in Saint Martensville. We urge the television stations and radio outlets to transmit that a special cabinet meeting is being called out for tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Ministry of Information.
